About

Jane Bucher-McCoy, MSW Intern

In 2000, I earned an MA in Counseling Psychology and worked with both adolescents and adults in multiple settings – including in community mental health and with the Juvenile Diversion Program in Arapahoe County. Soon after, I pivoted my career and have spent the last 22 years working in higher education in various capacities (in administration, as a preschool teacher and in human resources, to name a few). Three years ago, I decided to return to the field I love of counseling and mental health and have been working on a Master of Social Work degree.

I am very interested in the “person-in-environment” lens that is a foundational element of the social work profession, which gives equal importance to both the individual and the environment/systems in which we live when trying to understand human behavior and promoting well-being. I strongly believe in our capacity for change and resilience, and approach therapy with both a strengths-based and trauma-informed lens. I believe that we, as flawed human beings, can often get in our own way without realizing it, and that the therapeutic process can help us learn to understand ourselves more fully, freeing us from coping mechanisms and patterns of thought and behaviors that are no longer serving us.
