About

Peter Steele, MS Clinical Intern

I believe therapy is a place where everything inside of us that feels unwanted, unacceptable, or uncontrollable can finally be shared so that it can be held together with a caring other. Sometimes we are not ready for this, so we can start wherever we are ready, and work together to get gradually closer to where we would like to be. I think that life is intrinsically difficult, but that vulnerable honesty has the ability to powerfully touch hidden places of hurt within us and bring fresh life to ancient wounds. I believe gentleness, humility, and love are what most help us through this journey.

I've studied philosophy, spirituality, theology, and psychology because I believe the human person is so incredibly deep that we need all avenues of wisdom to try to make better sense of the unique mystery of our life. I've worked with people in hospitals, schools, prisons, and churches, and in them seen many sides of the human experience that have given me great reverence for the pain, hope, and beauty that people carry inside of them. I am honored by being allowed to share in the great stories of so many people's lives. I strive to make people feel comfortable with me, and to trust that I am open and care about whatever it is they long to share.
