I found a passion for counseling while pursuing nursing yet I found myself spending more time interacting with patients than providing medical care. I changed paths to complete a Bachelor’s in Integrative Therapies. My occupational history consists of service to others, including working in memory care with the geriatric population, medical detox and residential care for adults, as well as crisis intervention. I spent six months in Belize as a Peace Corps volunteer where I was exposed to cultural differences in medical and mental health care. I spent time working in a rural village providing neonatal and maternal health education, as well as teaching in the classroom.
I believe each individual has the solutions they seek within them, and my role is to provide tools to access these. Through empowerment, support, and unconditional positive regard, I aim to create a space for clients to explore themselves freely. I prioritize the counseling relationship and hope to assist clients in aligning their therapeutic goals with their behaviors for better quality of life.
